Tadasana | Tree Pose

Enhances physical balance, posture, and joint/leg strength.

Tadasana, or Tree Pose, is a balancing posture that involves standing on one leg while the other foot is placed on the thigh. This pose aims to improve posture, balance, and concentration while strengthening the legs and joints.

Setup & Alignment

Starting Position: Stand in a straight line with feet together. Focus your gaze on a single point in the mirror.

Foot Placement: Hold the right foot from underneath with the left hand. Lift the leg until the heel touches your clothing/costume and the sole faces the ceiling.

Hip & Knee Alignment: * Gently lower the right knee to protect the joint.

Ensure hips and shoulders remain square and in one line.

Push hips forward while gently pressing the right knee back.

Keep both knees aligned from the side view to open the pelvis.

Posture & Core

Spine & Torso: Lean the upper body back a couple of inches, stretch the spine upward, and contract the abdominal muscles (stomach in).

Support Leg: Keep the left leg locked with the thigh fully contracted.

Hand Position & Balance

Execution: Bring the left hand to the center of the chest.

Modifications: If balancing comfortably, bring the right hand up to meet the left in prayer position (namaskar). If the foot begins to slip, keep holding the foot with the left hand.

Hold: Maintain a steady gaze on one point with eyes open, breathe normally, and hold the posture before switching to the left side.

Joint Strength: Strengthens ankles, knees, and feet, offering therapeutic relief for joint pain like arthritis and rheumatism.Enhanced Balance: Develops core stability, spatial awareness, and precision control over micro-movements.Increased Flexibility: Opens up tight hip and knee joints while stretching the lower leg and foot muscles.Mental Focus: Demands intense concentration and patience, promoting a calmer, more resilient mind.
